What Lipi Converter does
Lipi Converter helps writers, students, editors, offices, and publishers convert traditional Nepali Preeti font text to standard Unicode—and convert Unicode back to Preeti when a legacy document or workflow requires it. The tools run locally in your browser. The Lipi Converter account app uses Google Sign-In only when you choose it, to authenticate your account and manage your desktop-app license and registered devices.

- Do I need to install anything?
- No. You can convert text and type in your browser completely for free with no installation needed. However, if you want to natively type in Nepali or Hindi across system applications or convert text directly on your device, an optional Lipi Converter desktop application for Windows is also available.
- How does desktop app licensing work?
- Desktop app licensing costs 999 NPR for a lifetime license per device. Using Lipi Converter in your web browser to convert and type remains 100% free forever.
- Do I need the Preeti font installed?
- Not to convert, but to view or print the Preeti output in Word or Publisher, yes, you will need Preeti font installed on your computer.
- Is my text private?
- Yes. Conversion is 100% local. Your text never leaves your device.
- Can I use this on mobile?
- Yes. Lipi Converter is fully responsive and works on Android and iOS browsers.
- Which fonts are supported?
- Currently Preeti and Unicode. Support for Kantipur, Himali, AMS, Krutidev, and Shreedev is coming soon.
Lipi Converter: Purpose of the Application
Lipi Converter is the official web and desktop application for converting Nepali text between traditional Preeti font encoding and the modern Unicode standard. It also provides Nepali typing tools and document-ready conversion output for people working with legacy files, government and office documents, publishing workflows, and web content.
The browser-based converter is free, and conversion processing takes place locally on your device—your converted text is not sent to or stored on our servers. If you choose to create or sign in to a Lipi Converter account with Google Sign-In, we use the basic account information described in our Privacy Policy only to authenticate you and manage your Lipi Converter license and registered devices.
